How to Complete an Excavation Daily Report

  1. Identify the exact work area. Record the building pad, trench, utility run, footing area, station range, structure, or other location where excavation occurred.
  2. Document weather and ground conditions. Note rain, groundwater, saturated soils, rock, unsuitable material, frozen ground, soft access, or other conditions that affected excavation.
  3. Record the crew. List employees or classifications, regular and overtime hours, and the primary activities completed.
