How to Use the Electrical Punch List Template
- Walk the project systematically. Review the building by floor, room, electrical system, or defined inspection route so areas are not skipped.
- Create one line for each issue. Avoid combining unrelated deficiencies into one item when they may require different crews or verification.
- Identify the exact location. Include room numbers, panel names, fixture locations, equipment tags, circuit references, or drawing references when available.
- Describe the required correction. State what is wrong and what needs to be completed rather than using vague language.
- Add a photo reference. Use photos when they help the assigned electrician locate or understand the deficiency.

- Update the status as work progresses. Move items from open to in progress and then to ready for verification when corrective work is complete.
- Verify before closing. Confirm that the correction is complete and that any required testing, labeling, or documentation has also been addressed.

Common Electrical Punch List Mistakes

A crew may report that an item is complete, but the project record is more reliable when someone verifies the correction before closing it.
Ignoring Labeling and Directories

Combining Several Locations Into One Item
