SimplySub’s August 28 update adds toolbox talks, credential tracking, customizable job cards, stronger file uploads, and workflow improvements.

This release brings several practical improvements across training, job management, files, QuickBooks, employees, and commerce. Highlights include a new training and credential management experience, more control over job board cards, and significantly more reliable file and photo uploads.

New

  • 🔥 Toolbox talks and credential tracking: SimplySub now includes a complete training and credential management experience. Run toolbox talks, collect crew signatures for attendance, and choose from nearly 800 ready-to-use bilingual topics in English and Spanish. You can also add your own toolbox talks and manage employee credentials such as driver’s licenses, OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications, first aid, CPR, and other training records. Learn More.
  • 🔥 Customize the information shown on job board cards: You can now choose which standard and custom fields appear directly on each job card displayed on the Jobs Board. This makes it easier to keep the information most important to your team visible at a glance without opening each job. To setup which fields are shown, head over to Administration --> Fields & Forms --> Jobs/Projects. Then click the "gear" icon next to the fields you want to appear. From there, toggle "show on job board cards" and then be sure to click Save Changes.
  • Federal holidays now appear in the job planner: Holidays are displayed directly in the calendar view, giving you more context when scheduling jobs and planning upcoming work.
  • Create SimplySub products from QuickBooks: You can now create a new product or service in SimplySub using an existing product or service from QuickBooks, reducing duplicate setup when managing your catalog.
  • Inactive employees are hidden by default: Disabled and inactive employee accounts no longer clutter the main employee and user lists. A new toggle lets you display them whenever needed.

Improved

  • Cleaner totals when no tax applies: On estimates and invoices with a zero tax rate now hide unnecessary subtotal and tax lines, creating a simpler and cleaner totals section.
  • Improved system communication reliability: Behind-the-scenes communication between SimplySub services is now more resilient, helping reduce general connection-related errors and create a more reliable experience.

Fixed

  • 🔥 More reliable file and photo uploads: We made major improvements to upload reliability and performance, especially when uploading large files, multiple files at once, or working from slower mobile connections.
  • Corrected expense category form wording: When adding a new expense category from the expense screen, the form now correctly identifies the item being created instead of referring to a supplier.
