Logging Work Performed

In this product tour, learn how your crews can quickly log completed work they perform on your jobs, directly from the field.

SimplySub gives subcontractors a simple way to configure the work their crews perform most often, then log that work directly against a job. By setting up a focused list of products and services, crews can record completed work, quantities, and notes without relying on separate spreadsheets or manual daily reports.

What this Feature Spotlight covers

This video walks through the full setup and field workflow for product logging.

  • Creating products and services in Admin Settings
  • Importing an existing product and service list
  • Adding categories and associated action words
  • Setting sales names, descriptions, billing options, and units of measurement
  • Logging completed work from the Jobs Board
  • Adding quantities and voice-to-text notes from a mobile device
  • Reviewing saved work on the job record and daily log

Why it matters

Crews often repeat the same types of work across many jobs. SimplySub lets you turn those common tasks into structured options such as applied, installed, poured, laid, tested, or hauled. Crew members can then select what they did, choose the related product or service, enter a quantity, and add supporting details.

Each entry is automatically associated with the correct job. The saved work also appears in the job’s work history and daily log, helping office teams keep up with field activity without asking crews to enter the same information multiple times.

Built to stay simple

You do not need to build a large product catalog before getting started. SimplySub recommends beginning with three to five products or services that your crews use most often, then expanding the list over time.

Products and services can also be imported from a spreadsheet, QuickBooks, or another accounting system. For each item, you can define an internal name, customer-facing sales name, category, action, billing settings, and unit of measurement. If pricing is not finalized, you can leave the rate at zero and update it later.

On mobile, crews can use the same straightforward workflow to select an action, choose the work performed, enter the quantity, and add notes using talk-to-text. This creates a practical self-service process for recording work in the field.
